Read on to learn interesting tips for roadside safety, so that you don't find yourself in the same situation I did.

3 Ways a Towing Company Can Help You with a Damaged Tire

If your tire is damaged, and you are not close to your home, a towing company can help you out of the difficult situation.  Here are a few ways that a towing company can help you when you with tire services:

#1 Put On A Spare

One of the first ways that a towing company can help you when you have a damaged tire is by putting on your spare tire, if you carry one in your vehicle. The towing company will be able to provide the supplies needed to swap out your tire, including the jack for your car. They will also provide the labor and knowledge for putting on your spare tire. So, if you don't know how to put on your spare tire, or if you are physical unable to put on your spare tire, you don't have to worry about anything. The towing company will take care of that for you.

#2 Patching A Punctured Tire

A damaged tire does not always need to be changed out to a spare tire. Oftentimes, a puncture in your tire just needs to be repaired. The towing company can check your tire and try and locate the punctured area. If a nail or other object is embedded in your tire, they can remove it for you. Then, they can apply a patch to your tire. This will allow you to continue to drive on your tire. After applying the patch, they can refill the air in your tire so you can get back on the road.

It is a good idea to follow up with a tire shop to ensure that the patch held and that there are no other issues with your tire.

#3 Tow To A Tire Company

If you don't have a spare tire, or if your vehicle is located too far away to safely drive on a spare tire to the nearest tire company location, a tow truck can provide you with a tow to the local tire company. In this case, you would need to have the towing company send out a trailer that your vehicle can be attached to. You don't want to have your vehicle pulled on its own tires when a tire is damaged; that could result in additional damage to the rim of the affected tire and damage to the undercarriage of your vehicle as well.

If you have a damaged tire when you are out on the road, give your local tow company a call. They can help you change to a spare tire, patch a punctured tire, or tow you to the local tire company.
